CWW Award Winners Announced
The Council for Wisconsin Writers has announced the winners for its 2019 writing contests. Judges awarded prizes in eight writing categories for works created or published in 2019. Seven awards of $500 and a week-long writing residency at Shake Rag Alley in Mineral Point went to first-place winners. Honorable mentions received $50 and a residency at Ernest Hüpenden's Painted Forest in Valton, Wisconsin. The first-place winner of the Young Writers Award received $250; the Honorable Mention, $50.
The Council also awards the Christopher Latham Sholes prize to a highly regarded writer who has contributed much to the encouragement of Wisconsin writers. This year's recipient is Appleton's own Cathryn Cofell.
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused the Council to postpone its annual banquet for this year. The organization presents its awards at the banquet. A make-up date has yet to be determined.
