New Chapbook: The Joy of Their Holiness
Peggy Turnbull, a poet from Manitowoc, Wis., has recently published a chapbook of poems entitled "The Joy of Their Holiness" ( 36 pgs., $16, Kelsay Books or Amazon). Previously, Ms. Turnbull published a micro-chapbook called "Rocking Chair Abstract" (Oragami Poems Project). She has also published poetry in several literary journals, among them Bluepepper: Poetry with Bite; Rat's Ass Review; and Sheila-Na-Gig.
A former college librarian in Appalachia, Ms. Turnbull began writing poetry after her retirement to Manitowoc, where she was born. She has taken poetry classes at The Mill: A Place for Writers, most recently a chapbook class from Karla Huston, the former Poet Laureate of Wisconsin (2017-2018). Ms. Turnbull has studied under poet and Mill teacher Tom Montag as well. Both Mr. Montag and Ms. Huston, as well as Erica Strauss, retired English lecturer, University of Wisconsin System, have provided concise testimonials of "The Joy of Their Holiness" at the Amazon site (see link above). All three praise the poems for their imagery and devotion to how the things of life speak to us, creating wonder and awe.
